Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Periodontal Disease is an inflammatory disease that attacks the gums, bones and other supporting structures of the teeth. Caused by a build up of plaque, it can cause serious dental problems if not treated effectively.

Symptoms of Periodontal Disease can include:

  • Bleeding gums whilst brushing or flossing your teeth
  • Pain while chewing
  • Red, sore, swollen gums
  • Build up of calculus (tartar)
  • Bad breath or bad taste
  • Loss of teeth sensitivity to hot and cold
  • Changes in bite
  • Gums that have withdrawn from teeth in between teeth
